Climate Change

Climate change represents one of the most critical global challenges of our time, driven by a complex interplay of factors, including carbon emissions, volcanic eruptions, and solar radiation. However, it’s the impact of human activities, particularly fossil fuel combustion, deforestation, and vehicular pollution, that has significantly accelerated this phenomenon. These activities have resulted in more frequent and severe extreme weather events, posing a grave threat to the planet’s biodiversity.

Forests, which play a vital role in carbon absorption, are facing the risk of mass extinctions. The polar regions, crucial for regulating Earth’s climate, are particularly vulnerable, with many species at the brink of extinction. Erratic rainfall patterns have led to catastrophic events like floods and droughts, disrupting water systems and impacting communities.

Various species, from polar bears struggling to find food due to melting ice caps to tigers facing habitat loss, are in jeopardy due to changing climates.

To address this monumental challenge, immediate and concerted efforts are paramount. It involves reducing carbon emissions through transitioning to cleaner energy sources, promoting sustainable practices in agriculture and land use, and adhering to international agreements such as the Paris Agreement.

Individuals, communities, governments, and businesses all have roles to play in combatting climate change. Raising awareness, adopting greener technologies, and advocating for responsible policies are crucial steps towards mitigating the impact of climate change. The preservation of Earth’s climate is not just an environmental imperative but a collective responsibility that requires global cooperation to ensure a sustainable and habitable future for generations t

Natural Resources

Natural resources are classified according to their renewability. There are renewable and non-renewable natural resources.

Renewable natural resources are replenished naturally

Renewable natural resources refer to those naturally occurring resources that are replenished naturally. Air is a natural resource that is always present around us naturally. We need the oxygen in the air to breathe to keep alive. If there is no air to breathe we cannot survive. Plants need the carbon dioxide present in the air to carry out photosynthesis. Plants also need sunlight and water for photosynthesis. Sunlight and water are also natural resources. Sunlight is needed by all life forms. The sun keeps our planet warm. The sun is also a source of light and energy for all life forms.

Water is also vital natural resource. The hydrological cycle replenishes water on the Earth. The heat of the sun evaporates water and the process of condensation brings pure water back to the Earth. Water is necessary for the upkeep of life. Humans need water to drink. Wild and domesticated animals, as also birds too need water to drink. Aquatic creatures like fishes can survive only in water bodies.

Non-renewable natural resources should not be wasted

Plants, all types of vegetation, and forests are also natural resources. Plants serve as food for man and other creatures. All herbivorous animals survive on plant food. Birds also feed on plant parts such as fruits and seeds. Plants belong to the category of organic natural resources.

Metals and minerals like gold, silver, diamonds and coal that are obtained from the earth are all inorganic natural resources.

Natural resources like forests as also metals and minerals are non-renewable resources. When a forest is cleared off, it does not re-appear again naturally. A pristine forest cover provides immense ecological benefits that a re-created forest cannot give. Non-renewable natural resources should, therefore, not be wasted or destroyed๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿชจ๐Ÿชต

Environment

Environment is everything that surrounds us natural or man-made, living or non-living. All the living species adapt themselves to conditions in their environment.

Importance of Clean Environment

People are becoming aware of the importance of clean and green environment nowadays. Maintaining cleanliness and protecting environment is the responsibility of every single person as we all are the part environment. Now cleanliness is not just limited to homes, schools and societies, it’s a wider concept. We need to keep our environment clean and green. To breathe fresh air, the air needs to be free of pollution caused due to emission of greenhouse gases. To drink purified water, the water needs to be clean and so on.

Many cleanliness campaigns such as the ‘Swachch Bharat Abhiyan, ‘Go Green and ‘Save Narmada Agitation has been launched by the government in an attempt to protect our environment. Fifth June is celebrated as the World Environment Day to spread awareness all over the world for the protection of environment.

Harming our environment is harming our own life and life of all other species. Why would we want to grow in a toxic atmosphere? And further, is it wise to degrade our environment for future generation? Absolutely not! Clean environment and Green environment is important for healthy life and to evolve naturally. If we can damage our environment we can also heal it.

As a part of the environment, we as an individual must take steps to protect our environment by planting more and more trees, saving water, saving electricity, using ecofriendly products, using public transport, maintaining cleanliness not only at home but on roads and public places, spreading awareness and educating children about the importance of clean environment and so on. Overall, it is a wider and global issue and a lot needs to be done to preserve the richness and beauty of environment๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒŽ๐ŸŒ♻️
